Getting Ready

Sam and I are in the midst of final packing and getting everything ready for our departure very early Sunday morning. We fly from Buffalo to Newark to San Francisco, where we pick up the international flight to Singapore, then on to Bangkok and finally to Chang Mai in Northern Thailand! We'll meet members of our group in San Francisco, although the group won't formally convene until we come through passport control in Chang Mai. We cross the international date line going over, so we will actually arrive on Tuesday. I plan to blog most days once we're there, internet connections permitting! So look for posts starting on Tuesday. We're looking forward to studying Buddhism, the tribal cultures of Northern Thailand and Laos and the complicated history of this region especially the recent history in Cambodia at the end of the Vietnam war.
